MCI Healthweb is a personalized, structured, stand-alone weight loss program, supervised only by primary care professionals over one year.

  • Lifestyle and Behavior Modification for obesity is the set of principles and techniques used to help modify eating and activity habits. (1) New habits can be learned in the same manner as a sport or musical instrument.  The Strategies consist of: Behavior, Nutrition, and Physical Activity.
  • Behavioral Strategies: By accessing your secure portal, we will deliver to you twelve weeks of “daily therapy”, which are the behavioral strategies of the National Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) and LOOK AHEAD multi-center trials, hosted by the Centers for Disease Control Prevention (CDC).
  • Eating habits are identified by self-monitoring according to types of foods, portion sizes, calories, time, places, and moods.
  • Empowerment Tools: Our behavioral tools are designed to help patients reinforce their skills of self efficacy and accountability.
  • Convenience: Patients and their families can access their progress, portals and physicians anywhere in the world.

Health Coaching Through your secure portal, you will have access to your own health coach and platform dashboard, for self-monitoring your progress. Your platform also contains a secure communication system and message board for connecting with your health coach, physician and supporters.
Physician Supervision Before starting the program, we require a Primary Care Physician (PCP) initial exam, labs, and medical clearance. The PCP will supervise clinical care.  throughout the delivery of this program. In order to ensure safety and support success, Physicians are required to monitor medical progress, from start to finish. Patients who are unsure their physicians are able to utilize our weight loss program are encouraged to contact us.

Self-monitoring is the cornerstone of intense behavioral therapy for obesity and a powerful self motivator. To develop healthy lifestyle habits, we encourage you to log in frequently to your dashboard and use our platform to connect with your supporters. The MCI Health platform delivers your Daily Therapy, interactive quizzes and email communications and stores clinical, laboratory and personal data for you. Multiple trackers, wearable devices, and a home electronic scale will motivate you by integrating personal data to your dashboard and wireless device. During active weight loss, you will be eating 950-1,000 cal/day for 3 months, including a regular low-fat protein meal with vegetables for dinner. With this easy plan you will lose 1/3 to 1/2 pound per day while feeling satisfied. Then starting approximately 1,400-1,600 cal/day for maintenance. This is based on a high-protein, low carb meal plan. To aid in your nutrition, vitamin and food supplements will be provided. This program will be customized by your health coach, just for you.

MCIH offers 2 nutrition programs:

A: A caloric-restricted, modified protein sparing program from Harvard Medical School with a choice of 3 packaged, delicious portable, protein meals daily and regular, low-fat meat and vegetables for dinner for 12 weeks. This program allows 950-1,000 calories/day then transitions to a modified Mediterranean diet for Maintenance for life. With this easy plan participants will lose 1/3 to 1/2 pound per day while feeling satisfied. Maintenance includes approximately 1,400-1,750 calories/day. Vitamin and food supplements are also provided.

B: The famous, whole food, plant-based diet of the Center for Nutrition Studies. Both of these excellent programs are delivered and fully explained by interactive, motivational, online “Daily Therapy” for 12 weeks of Intensive Behavioral Therapy. The goal is to successfully intervene in the cycle of poor dietary and lifestyle choices that have previously kept our participants from permanently losing weight and becoming optimally healthy.

After Active Weight Loss, patients are transitioned to a formal Maintenance Phase for life. During your active weight-loss phase you will learn the principles of to a Mediterranean diet, that is centered around a healthier way of living: Achieving a better balance between work, leisure and friends. This diet is rooted in fresh, wholesome foods like fruits, vegetables, beans, tofu, grains, and a moderate intake of meat and fish, and in using healthy fats such as olive oil. It emphasizes using herbs and spices instead of salt to flavor foods and drinking wine in moderation. This way the maintenance of your weight is incorporated into a new everyday lifestyle. Patients continue to be followed by their health coach and may be offered virtual group chat meetings several times per month. They are encouraged to continue at least 150 minutes/ week of physical activity. Interesting Quarterly Newsletters are sent including new tips, events, and heart healthy recipes.
